Mall@Emba and EMI event August 2010

POSTED: Friday, 10th September 2010

Celebrating spring this year at mall@eMba brought Embalenhle and surrounding areas to a standstill!  EMI partnered with the mall@eMba to bring the magic voices of Mandoza, Kwela Tebza, Vusi and, DJ Mzwezwe and other local artists to the Mall.

The day started off with a bang when Mandoza entered the stage, singing his famous song - Nkalakata.  Makgarebe a Bochabela, a stage name for one of the leading vocalists at the ZCC church Nomthandazo Mnyiphika, amazed the crowd with her voice like an angel and what an honour hearing Vusi sing live.  He recently performed at FIFA's massive WORLD CUP KICK OFF CONCERT on June 10.
Kwela Tebza's who performed both locally and internationally are famous for their Pennywhistle; this is what makes this talented group so distinct from the rest.  Though playing the penny whistle was not automatically endowed in their genes; they had to learn this rather difficult instrument; which they did and perfected this art.

Kwela Tebza sang some tributes from the late S.A Singers, one from the late Lebo Mathosa, Jabulani Ndaba from Malaika and Arthur's late brother Makhendas Mafokate, Minwana Phezulu which got the crowd jumping up and down with joy.

The estimated crowd in the mall was +-30 000.  It was the 1st time the mall had such a huge number in one day at one single event.

Truly amazing talent embraced the streets of Embalenhle this spring and it was an honour to have such big artists uniting with mall@eMba, entertaining us for the day and bringing us such a magical event, never to be forgotten.

A big thanks to KFC for sponsoring the artists with delicious snack boxes and to Graceland for their refreshments which truly helped the artists cool off after their turn on stage.  A massive thank you to everyone who assisted making the artists feel welcome and ensured a smooth sail all the way, especially EMI who helped us, make this day, an unforgettable day!
