A blanket of yellow Soccer shirts, painted faces and the spirit of Africa covered the Mall@Reds early in the winter when we first welcomed our foreign customers.
Country flags were hanged all over the centre to create a vibe of patriotism and of course, this big event could not have been possible without the help of Visa. The organisers of Visa spent timeless hours in the Mall, ensuring that all the Visa promotional items like branded banners, stands, flags etc, were all up in time creating a soccer vibe of note. The 2m Zakumi mascot was a big hit to all our customers at Mall@Reds. Even Rugby fans traded their rugby shirt in for a bright yellow Soccer shirt.
To entertain our loyal shoppers, Mall@Reds together with Richenda Photography and Dream Photos had a Soccer Family competition. Richenda Photography and Dream Photos sponsored R1 from each entry fee to SPCA Centurion. A flag auction, to raise more funds for the SPCA, was held on the last day of the Soccer World Cup, i.e. 11 July. We are proud to announce that ±R1500 was raised for this special cause. Another major success was the "Guess the amount of soccer balls in the Honda Jazz" competition sponsored by Honda Hatfield, Flight centre and Mall@Reds. Over this period we had approximately 1 000 entries but unfortunately there could only be 1 winner for the grand prize...a R6 000 Flight Centre gift voucher to anywhere in the world! These competitions were open to everybody out there and ran from 11 June - 10 July. Lots of other awesome prizes where up for grabs.
Further more, A huge soccer fan made his appearance at the Mall@Reds, releasing his newest album, "Duisend en een". Yes, non other than Steve Hofmeyr! In conjunction with Phase 2 CD's and EMI music, they arranged loads of entertainment for our shoppers with other artists such as: Riaan Globler, Chrizaan, Armand Hofmeyr and Ruan de Waal. This attracted hundreds of feet to the Mall@Reds. Fans waited up to 3 hours in line only to be able to meet their Afrikaans music legend, Steve Hofmeyr. What a great way of celebrating the Soccer vibe.
Mall@Reds would like to thank our tenants for helping us making this event a major success.
Special thanks to Dros, Ocean Basket, and Wimpy for the food vouchers, Lingerie Spot and Sense Day spa for their beautiful woman hampers and vouchers, Incredible Connection for sponsoring a Playstation 2, Farah Watches for their Soccer clocks and Puma watch, Mr Price clothing for the clothing vouchers, Phase 2 CD's for the CD vouchers, Tekkie town, Diva and Flight Centre for their amazing prizes. Another thanks to all our outside sponsors i.e, Honda, Mangwanani Spa, Royal Elephant Guesthouse, Dipsy Dots, Eldo Falls, Q photo and also Richenda Photography and Dream Photos who made sure everything went according to plan.
Mall@Reds was very sad to waive goodbye to all our foreign visitors and to take down all the Soccer flags, but we all know that the Fifa World Cup 2010 was a great success and we are once again....PROUDLY SOUTH AFRICAN!
